FLOODPLAIN ADMINISTRATOR ACCREDITATION TRAINING 2009-10 |
|
The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC),
along with the Arkansas Floodplain Management Association (AFMA) and
other organizations, provides training for local Floodplain
Administrators. Act 745 of 2003 requires that each community
participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
appoints a Floodplain Administrator who is accredited by the
Commission. Accreditation is renewed annually on July 1.
Eight (8) hours of continuing education is required during the 12
months preceding renewal. Below is a list and description of
training approved for renewal of accreditation on July 1, 2010.
Other training may be acceptable if it is approved in advance by
Commission staff. The NFIP class above satisfies the training
qualification as do conferences listed at the bottom of the page.

Free One-day Workshops
Ten (10) one-day workshops will be held at various
locations around the State.
These workshops are intended for both experienced and
new floodplain administrators. They give local floodplain
administrators a chance to ask questions and be updated on
important activities and changes in floodplain management, the
National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), new flood maps, and
other issues.
On October 1, 2009, as part of FEMA's Digital Vision initiative,
the FEMA Map Service Center discontinued general distribution of
paper mapping products. This affects Flood Insurance Rate Maps,
Flood Hazard Boundary Maps, Flood Boundary and Floodway Maps,
and Flood Insurance Study reports. The focus on this
year's workshops is accessing and using digital map products
from a variety of sources.
Workshops will be approved on a "first come, first serve" basis.
The workshops with *** are only available to the Primary
Floodplain Administrator for a community.
